A daily devotion app that helps missionaries transition back to civilian life while maintaining spiritual fervor

The Project

Soulcare is a health and wellness app. It helps Christian oversea humanitarian aid and gospel workers debrief, heal, and transition back to normal civilian life after experiencing culture shock, traumatic events, and even processing difficulties in relating with others who did not experience the same.

The Problem

There are around 430,000 missionaries of the Christian faith globally. These individuals experience tremendous levels of stress. According to one study:

80% of missionaries burn out and don’t finish their term
46% of missionaries have been diagnosed with a psychological issue
87% of those with a psychological issue are diagnosed with depression
40% of missionaries suffer from depression—a number roughly 500% higher than that of the general U.S. population.

During the COVID pandemic, many faith tech apps emerged and grew rapidly in user adoption as many people resort to prayer as a means to cope with anxiety. But among these, very few serve missionaries

The Solution

Soulcare is a daily devotion app designed to help missionaries transition back to normal life and deal with the traumatic experiences they endured overseas.

Soulcare was designed to equip missionaries with a thoughtful set of tools including:

Devotional habit development
Personalized spiritual content
Foster connection via community features
Connect users to diverse mental health resources, services, and professionals

Process
